Hello!
It is looking like it will be another beautiful weekend! I hope you have something fun planned outdoors for the weekend! Don't forget to remind your child to wear Twins Gear on Monday for the home opener. We will get to watch a little of the game here at school! Go Twins!! Just a reminder that Spring Break is the week of April 10th-14th. I know we are all excited to get a little extra time at home or on a family vacation! Whatever your family is doing, I hope it is a great time! Finally, when we return from Spring Break we will be preparing for the Reading MCA test just a few weeks later. Please keep reading with your child over the break and encouraging them to share all about their books. If you are looking for some prompts for what to talk to your child about when it comes to reading, check out the picture below! Hello Parents,
I hope you had a wonderful week! We had a great week together in third grade. We learned a lot about the problem with poachers in Africa as we read through two paired text, one called How to Save a Baby Elephant and Can Drones Stop Animal Killers. The students were so intrigued about the risk of extinction that elephants and rhinos are facing due to poaching for ivory. They learned so much and are very passionate about the topic. We used these passages to compare and contrast two texts on the same topic. They did a wonderful job! Ask them what they learned this week. In math we finished one unit and started our FINAL math unit of the year! I can't believe how fast this year is going. Our final unit will be a little longer, focusing on multi-digit multiplication and division, as well as number stories. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Hello parents,
Pleas see the message below about classroom requests for next year from Mr. Giesen: Requests for the 2017-2018 school year need to be submitted in writing to Mr. Giesen no later than April 15, 2017. Any requests received after that date will not be considered. All requests must include a legitimate educational concern that should be considered with balancing class lists. Please do not include teacher names. There are several items taken into account when creating class lists such as ratio of boys to girls, students with higher educational needs, students with challenging behaviors, to name only a few. Fluctuations in enrollment may create the need to increase or decrease class size. Creating class lists is a challenging task- it is critical that all classes are as balanced as possible to maintain an optimal educational environment for all students. We will make every effort to honor requests, but there are no guarantees. Have a wonderful weekend! Hello Parents,
